Most aspects of The Thomson Test Chart may be controlled using the IR remote handset.


The keys on the handset are arranged in four major groups as shown below.

Primary Modes group


The Primary Modes group controls the Primary mode as listed below:




Cursor Control Group


The Cursor control keys have a variety of functions depending on the current Primary and Secondary mode and options set.  These keys generally have the same function as the corresponding keys on the keyboard.


Precise details of their functions in each mode are given under the description of each test.


When the blue Shift key is pressed, the Cursor keys are used to move a cursor across the chart when in one of the Test Chart modes.  Further details


Test Options Group


The Test Options keys have a variety of functions depending on the current Primary and Secondary mode and options set.  These keys generally have the same function as the keys 1-8 on the keyboard.


Precise details of their functions in each mode are given under the description of each test.


User-defined Group


The User-defined keys select the Test Chart configuration that has been defined for the keys CTRL 0 - CTRL 9.  Further details


Other keys


The red button labelled ON / OFF toggles the Test Chart screen on and off.


The Split button splits and un-splits the Test Chart screen.  Further details


The Up / Low button toggles between selecting the upper and lower screens when in Split mode.   Further details


I, U, M, R O and L have the equivalent action to pressing these keys on the keyboard.  Precise details of their functions in each mode are given under the description of each test.


Esc resets the Test Chart screen to its default setting within the current Primary mode.


Back returns the Test Chart screen to its previous configuration.  This may be pressed multiple times to return to previous screens.
