Vision screening in schools - a case study
What is it?
The Vision Screener for Schools was the brainchild of Professor David Thomson while working at the City University of London. Following successful clinical trials in schools across Islington, the University set up a spin-out company to further develop and market the software. The company, Thomson Screening, has gone from strength to strength and has produced a unique screening system to manage Vision Screening, Hearing Screening, Height and Weight reporting, Health Needs Assessment and Immunisations.
The software manages the entire process from obtaining parental consent, screening, reporting to parents, tracking children through the referral pathway, exporting to various Child Health systems and producing real-time audit reports.
